Abstract:
Due to the non-availability of military temperature grade electronic parts, some companies are considering the use of commercial electronic parts at a 'wider' temperature range than specified by the manufacturer. This paper presents a comparison of the high-temperature electrical performance of a Texas Instruments 3-state octal buffer, which is available in both -40 to 85C (commercial-off-the-shelf version) and -55 to 125C (military) temperature ranges. It is found that the performance of both parts is identical over the 25 to 135C temperature range.
