Dr. Moustafa Al-BassyiouniE-Mail:

Dr. Moustafa Al-Bassyiouni (Ph.D. and M.S., Mechanical Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park, M.S. and B.S., Aerospace Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt) is a faculty member at the Center for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering since 2005. His expertise is in shock and vibration analysis, failure mechanisms in electronic components and assemblies, smart materials, opto-electronic systems, and health monitoring. His current research with CALCE focuses on failure of electronic packages when subjected to vibration, shock, and/or twist loading. Dr. Al-Bassyiouni has published several articles on these subjects, and presented his research at international conferences and workshops. He also holds 2 U.S. patents for inventions on fiber-optic sensor technology. He has been a technical reviewer for the Journal of Microelectronics Reliability, Journal of Vibrations and Control, and the International Journal of Automobile Engineering. Dr. Al-Bassyiouni is currently a member in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
