| Welcome to the
University of Maryland Student Chapter of IMAPS website. IMAPS is the International
Microelectronic and Packaging Society, a Technical Society composed of
engineers, technicians, managers, salespeople (and students of course)
involved in the packaging, routing and materials development of microelectronics
and electronic systems.
About IMAPS IMAPS is the result of the successful merger of ISHM- The Microelectronics Society and IEPS- International Electronic Packaging Society. The new organization was officially started on November 1, 1996. Its mission is to advance and expand the use of microelectronics and microelectronic packaging through the dissemination of information and the promotion of the values of the technology. IMAPS is unique in that it provides the most comprehensive business development opportunities and technical information covering a broad portfolio of microelectronics technologies. The Society provides an effective forum for the dissemination of technical knowledge within related fields of microelectronics including multichip modules, ball grid arrays, thick and thin film circuits, advanced ceramics, surface mount technology, wire bonding, wireless communications, flat panel displays, and advanced packaging. IMAPS covers activities ranging from research and design, materials, and manufacturing to marketing and sales. IMAPS has expanded its services to fully reflect the range of these specialities. IMAPS - The Largest Electronics Packaging Society in the World At Your Service!!! Since 1967 and with the merger of ISHM and IEPS, IMAPS has now grown into an organization with over 6,000 members and supports 50 local and student chapters throughout the world. IMAPS's membership is truly international, with members in over 50 countries, in affiliated chapters in Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific Rim. IMAPS represents all facets of the microelectronics industry: circuit designers and manufacturers, vendors and suppliers, practitioners and academicians, CEOs and students. It is this diversity that enables IMAPS to serve its members as the business development and information focal point for organizations working in the fields of microelectronics.
