As part of CALCE's Pb-free research, CALCE has released a tin whisker risk assessment software program, calceWhiskerRiskCalculator. The software allows the user to evaluate the whisker failure risk presented by a set of tin or tin based Pb-free conductors. The software implements a stochastic approach using measured whisker growth characteristics and if necessary extrapolating the growth based on measured growth trends. An example of the results from the software program is provided below.
